We believe that this is the ideal opportunity for our North Spallumcheen neighborhood to work together and petition to bring us faster and more reliable broadband services. If you feel that your internet service does not meet your needs, please join us in petitioning our local government and service providers. We need to speak as one to ensure our voices are heard.
Here is how we can work together:
STEP 1 – Sign the petition
STEP 2 – Share this initiative via social media, email, or word of mouth with your neighbors who may be affected by poor internet service too.
STEP 3 – Complete our survey to demonstrate the need for better broadband to our municipality and service providers
We were wondering how many of our neighbors experience the same slow internet that we do, so we conducted a survey asking about the quality of internet service they receive. These were the results:
88% Said their internet speed either varies considerably or has poor connection all the time
83% Are dissatisfied with their current internet service
93% Said that they believe the quality of internet service should be the same for rural residents as it is for those in cities.
100% Believed that faster services were important for the community, and would want a more reliable broadband network.
Complete our survey to demonstrate the need for better broadband to our municipality and service providers here.
Both the Federal and Provincial governments have several granting programs in place. The Northern Development Initiative Trust is putting forward Connecting British Columbia COVID-19 Response Funding Program to help internet service providers and regional and local governments connect people in rural and Indigenous communities with high-speed internet.
