We are proud to present this incredible theatre/film hybrid created by a posse of nationally recognized Calgary artists. This playful and powerful performance takes original western movie footage from nearly 100 years ago and mashes and smashes it back together like a punch in a saloon brawl that sends you crashin’ over tables and smashin’ out the front window. But here’s the catch – they do all the sound and music live and in person. That’s right! Bonafide real Indians and Cowboys will be right under that silver screen, whoopin’ and hollerin’, yodelin’ and revoicing those ol’ timey moving pictures.
“a joyful and hilarious roast of the Hollywood westerns that have shaped our wild western imaginations” ~ Estelle Shook
ADVISORY: PG13 (a few f bombs get thrown around)
Indians and Cowboys is now embarked upon a well deserved National tour after performing for sold out houses in Calgary in 2024.

“When you watch these old westerns, often the Indigenous people are the losers, running from a burning teepee, waiting for a white man to save them. So we’re flipping that whole narrative. We’ve put a humorous slant on it all. The images on the screen will be accompanied by live music, with new dialogue dubbed in. That’s the beauty, finding a voice for all people that call this territory home, in an Indigenously-led way, it’s about bringing people together and creating conversations. ~ Director Michelle Thrush
